This is one of the coolest things I've read in a while. I love writing, but I get so caught up in character and dialog, that I forget about external tensions. Then I run out of steam. I'm thinking this is a way to generate some of that steam!
We did! The first time they encountered the monster I introduced the star basically just as a progress clock because they didn’t know the creature’s weakness so they couldn’t actually defeat it yet. (In retrospect I could have done an actual spark for an event, but didn’t think that through.) When they encountered the creature the second time they knew the weakness and were fully prepared to act on it, which is when I brought out the spark with the checks added in. The realization of “wait, so we could one-shot it?” was immediate and of great interest! They did not, in fact, one shot it, but they did defeat it on their third check. 😀
I’m excited to try out Everspark itself, but until then, I’m definitely going to be sneaking sparks into other games!

Thank you! Yes, for sure, I can see that working nicely ^^
You’ve got me inspired! I think I’m going to sneak one or two of these in to my Monster of the Week game tonight…
That’s awesome! I hope you have a great time!
