I think 🤔 tale foundry is where I first heard about it. It's a really beautiful concept. I have been trying to get away from dark and grim stories I try to stay in the noble grey and bleak areas. Because the world is pretty crappy my setting isn't bright or joyful by any means but the people try.
Thinking about other fantasy stories you could describe this way reminds me of the Balance arc of the Adventure Zone (and maybe more recent seasons, I haven't been following). There are sad and angry moments, but the long game is about wonder and hope and community.
With the increasing popularity of 'grimdark', I've found myself looking for games that offer up a little more hope.
David Blandy's post-apocalyptic Eco Mofos!! is very different kind of game but, to distinguish it from the proliferation of doom laden material, he refers to it as 'weird hope'.
Noble Bright fantasy is the opposite of grim dark.
If you were to think of it as a spectrum.
Grim-bleak-noble
Dark -grey-bright

I understand the sentiment, for sure
That’s a great breakdown!
