Thinking about other fantasy stories you could describe this way reminds me of the Balance arc of the Adventure Zone (and maybe more recent seasons, I haven't been following). There are sad and angry moments, but the long game is about wonder and hope and community.
With the increasing popularity of 'grimdark', I've found myself looking for games that offer up a little more hope.
David Blandy's post-apocalyptic Eco Mofos!! is very different kind of game but, to distinguish it from the proliferation of doom laden material, he refers to it as 'weird hope'.
Noble Bright fantasy is the opposite of grim dark.
If you were to think of it as a spectrum.
Grim-bleak-noble
Dark -grey-bright
